阴阳之气
世间万物皆由气构成，而气又分为阴阳两种，属性互相对立。阴气与阳气，就是这样两种截然不同的气。它们遵循着特定的法则相互影响，阴阳之气的互动，便催生了万物的生长变化。不仅如此，事物之间还能借助阴阳之气的流动，彼此感知，产生联系。
The Qi (Vital Force) of Yin and Yang
Everything in the world is composed of qi, which exists in two forms—yin and yang—with opposing attributes. Yin qi and yang qi are thus two distinct types of qi. They interact with each other according to specific rules, and such interaction drives the generation and transformation of all things. Moreover, through the circulation of these two types of qi, things can perceive and influence one another.

《淮南子·泰族训》中有言：“故天之且风，草木未动而鸟已翔矣；其且雨也，阴曀未集而鱼已噞矣：以阴阳之气相动也。”（因此天要起风，草木还未摇动但鸟已高飞；天要下雨，阴云还未聚集但鱼已在水面不停张口吸气：这是由阴气和阳气相互驱动造成的。）
This citation from the Huainanzi states: "Therefore, aware of the rising of wind, birds fly away before grass and trees start to sway. Aware of the coming of rain, fish swim to the surface to breathe before dark clouds start to gather. In both cases, the early reactions of birds and fish are caused by the interaction between the qi of yin and the qi of yang."
